Stand Up Comedy with Heather Hurst
This is a jam-packed introductory to intermediate workshop for writing and performing stand-up comedy. It is most suitable for first-timers, novices and anyone who wants to improve their public stage presence! I mean - who hasn't wanted to try stand up at least once in their life!
1. Learn how to write jokes for your stage persona – intro to character, structure and style.
2. Learn how to use the stage – basic stagecraft and microphone technique.
3. Gain an insight into the process involved in being a stand-up comedian.
4. And at the end of the course there is a non-obligatory opportunity to perform your new 4 minute set on stage for all of your friends and family! (We won't make you do it - but we bet you will want to by the end of the course!
What should you bring?
Pens, pencils, notepad and if possible, a sense of humour (not compulsory – some of the funniest comedians in the world are the grimmest people you will ever meet off stage).
This course will be offered at a later date.

HEATHER HURST - Stand Up Comedy Instructor
Comedian Heather Hurst was once a well paid, corporate communications specialist – but that was before her higher calling of making people laugh compelled her to leave it all behind and pursue comedy professionally. Heather’s high energy, free-flowing style has made her a fan favourite at comedy clubs across the country and into the United States. Heather is thrilled to be teaching at the Acting Company this January and working with new and probably really nervous students.
